The goal is still to take the king like normal chess. But, the pieces have different movements. Some of them can promote too.

Each time you restart, you get random pieces.

I enjoyed this tribute chess game. Learning the pieces was very fun, though I wish I could hover over enemy pieces to learn how they could move next turn. Thanks again for the game :D

This is cool and a nice tribute to some community members. But as said, i found it hard to know / plan what pieces could do. Wish i would have made the all-star cast of this game :)

I had a bit of fun playing, though to be honest the rules arent clear. a bit of introduction explaining how each piece moves and attacks, would of been extremely helpful.

I do wonder what's better: Letting the player try and figure stuff out, or give them the info. I chose the former in this case. It's an interesting game design debate.

It is! It depends on the game/genre in my opinion. With games like these with so many different pieces and the upgrade mechanic, it would have been nice with a bit of explanation though others seemed to pick it up more quickly than I and enjoyed the discovery! :) cant wait to play more of this:)
